Silicone is very durable but depending on factors unique to each person, the lifespan of the cup varies. Inspect your cup regularly for signs of deterioration, such as odor, severe discoloration, or a stick or powdery film. Also regularly inspect your cup for any tears in the stem or cup. Since it is a personal hygiene product, a general guideline is to replace it every two years or if the cup was worn while you experienced a yeast or bacterial infection.

Sizing, Comfort & Safety

Softdisc was designed to fit the majority of menstruators, regardless of age. As every user has a unique internal shape and size, there is a small chance that Softdisc may not work for you. If Softdisc does not fit, we recommend you try our sister brand FLEX.

Softdisc should not leak if inserted properly.

Softdisc works by catching your blood as it comes out of your cervix. Menstrual fluid is collected (similar to a cup) rather than absorbed (like a tampon) reducing the likelihood of leaks.

You may notice leaking when going to the bathroom, and know that this is normal. When you use the restroom, your muscles tend to “bear down” and can push Softdisc from behind the pubic bone.

You can use a clean finger to check that the top of the rim is resting behind your pubic bone and you’re good to go.

Use warm water and soap free from oils or synthetic fragrance and wash your cup for 20 seconds. Be sure to get the air holes unclogged and cleaned. Do not use tea tree oil, scented soap, castile/peppermint soap, oil-based soap, rubbing alcohol, antibacterial soap, hand sanitizer, dish soap, hydrogen peroxide bleach, or harsh chemicals as these may damage the silicone and cause irritation. If irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult your physician.

Sometimes you may want to do a deep clean. To do this, boil the cup for 10 minutes in an open pot of water. Do not leave the boiling pot unattended. Use tongs to ensure the cup does not touch the bottom of the pot. If you burn your cup while boiling, your cup may no longer be suitable for use and should be replaced.

Softcup comes in two sizes, so you can rest easy knowing we’ve got the right size for you. If you have questions about sizing, please contact us at hello@softcup.com we’re happy to help.

You can check that your cup is fully open in 1 of 3 ways:

1. Gently press your index finger on one side of your vaginal wall to create space for the cup to open.

2. Run your index finger around the base of the cup to feel if there are indents or pleats (which mean it hasn’t opened all the way).

3. Grab the base of the cup and rotate it one direction or the other.

The stem warms up to your body’s temperature as you wear it. It can take a few minutes but should be less noticeable as time goes on.

If you are still noticing the cup’s stem, it is customizable so you can tailor it to fit your body’s needs. Here are a few ways to make it more comfortable if you can feel it.

1. Move the cup higher up into your vagina. It should be less noticeable this way.

2. Remove your cup and trim the length of the stem by using clean scissors. It can be shortened or trimmed away completely.

3. If all else fails and you’re still uncomfortable, remove the cup and consult your physician.

No, Softcup cannot get lost inside of you.The cervical opening is far too narrow to allow an object to pass through.

If you have trouble removing Softcup, don’t panic. Try sitting on the toilet and bearing down with the pelvic muscles which will push Softcup towards the vaginal canal. Once in the vaginal canal, you will be able to comfortably pull it out.

No, Softcup should not cause cramping or discomfort when placed properly. In fact, you shouldn’t be able to feel it at all.

Unlike a tampon which is stiff and plugs the vaginal canal, Softcup is flexible and moves with the contractions of your body, helping to ease or eliminate the pain of cramping.

Using Softdisc

Softdisc is a disposable, single use menstrual disc that can be worn safely for up to 12 hours.

Softdisc has a soft, flexible rim made out of a medical-grade polymer that is made to fit inside the vaginal fornix, covering the cervix, and preventing menstrual fluid from entering the vaginal canal. The soft center “catch” collects rather than absorbs your menstrual fluid and holds the equivalent of 5 tampons.

Because menstrual discs do not plug the vaginal canal (like a menstrual cup or tampon), you will not experience dryness or irritation while wearing.

No, a common misconception is that Softdisc is a disposable menstrual cup. Softdisc is actually a menstrual disc which sits in a completely different part of the body than a menstrual cup. Due to the placement of a menstrual disc at the base of the cervix, the vaginal canal is clear which means you don’t experience the discomfort, dryness and irritation that you may with a menstrual cup. Likewise, because there is nothing plugging the vaginal canal, it means that you can actually have sexual intercouse while wearing Softdisc.
